My Costume
After a day of extensive shopping for my daughter’s wedding, I settled down on my bed when a thought crossed my mind, is it just me, or is everyone wearing a costume according to the role they play in this life. On the stage during the wedding, everyone will look at me from their own perspective, my mom, my daughter, the bride’s mom, my sister, my friend, the groom’s mother-in-law, etc.. But that does not change who I am, who I have been or who I will be. I will be wearing a 1-day old costume, but my soul is wearing this 48-year-old costume with which I am being identified. I recently came across an article where I read that each and everyone of us is a soul on a journey, and this journey has been going on for thousands of years, changing costumes every 100 years. It got me thinking about the concept of time. What is past, present and future. Are we all so focused on our recent costumes that we forget we have worn a lot of costumes and carry loads of baggage from our previous role...
