ITS TIME A deafening thunder, a blinding lightning, a striking blow to my head is what it took to awaken me to the reality of my life. I am a very positive person always looking for the silver lining in all the dark clouds. But little" did I realize that I have always been in my own lala land looking only for the good in every situation and every human I came into contact with. It took an earthquake to shake the ground beneath my feet and a storm above my head to put some perspective into my dreamland. Life will never be the same. Nobody will ever hold the same place in my heart. A heart that is now shattered into a million tiny pieces with sharp edges that can pierce into any soul that tries to hurt me or my loved ones.   Recently I have come to realize the depth of the saying “Man proposes God disposes”. Everything is destined to happen for a reason and every time we meet with a disaster we tend to get closer to understanding the purpose of our existence. “This too shall p...

My Costume

After a day of extensive shopping for my daughter’s wedding, I settled down on my bed when a thought crossed my mind, is it just me, or is everyone wearing a costume according to the role they play in this life. On the stage during the wedding, everyone will look at me from their own perspective, my mom, my daughter, the bride’s mom, my sister, my friend, the groom’s mother-in-law, etc.. But that does not change who I am, who I have been or who I will be.  I will be wearing a 1-day old costume, but my soul is wearing this 48-year-old costume with which I am being identified. I recently came across an article where I read that each and everyone of us is a soul on a journey, and this journey has been going on for thousands of years, changing costumes every 100 years. It got me thinking about the concept of time. What is past, present and future. Are we all so focused on our recent costumes that we forget we have worn a lot of costumes and carry loads of baggage from our previous role...

WHAT IF??

What and If are two separate non threatening words as words can be but put them together and they have the power to haunt you for a lifetime. What if I make a mistake, What if I regret it later, What if I fall, What if I never get back up, What if my life is a mess, What if I never find love, What if I find love and never have it reciprocated, What if I lose them even after its reciprocated, What if I don’t have friends, What if I have a lot of friends but not a single loyal one, What if I die without living, What IF?? What IF?? What IF?? It's just as oppressive to be afraid of the future as it is to be afraid of the past. Yesterday is history, and tomorrow is a mystery, as we've all heard. When you walk forward into the mystery, the only truth that can be made the best history is now in the present moment. According to what I've read, the most frequent fear that humans have is the fear of failure. Failure at school, failure at work, failure among peers, failure to ...

Lost & Found

At some point in our life we will all be ashamed of ourselves and at some other point we will all be proud of ourselves. In the journey between these two points we lose and find ourselves several times. This is the journey of life. I am sure all of us have experienced love. Love of a parent, love of a sibling, love of a friend, love of a partner & love of a child. Very few have mastered the art of loving themselves. When I pondered this thought I gained in-depth knowledge of what it means to love oneself and how it is done. If we have to love ourselves it means we are split into 2 pieces. The actual being that we are and the person we feel the need to be. If the actual me falls in love with the “me persona” then it means I don’t love the actual me. I want to be seen and heard by others as the “me persona” rather than the actual me. Which also means I am ashamed of the real me. Similarly if the real me is proud of myself then it means I have accepted the reality of my being and I u...

TAGGED

“A Fool knows the price of everything and the value of nothing” I came across this quote and my creative juices flooded my system with questions of how we tag every relationship, every materialistic pleasure, every endeavour and every situation based on our understanding of the Price and the Value of it. Right from a very young age all of us are taught to achieve high standards and relentlessly pursue success. A bench mark is set even before we take our first steps. Success is always overrated and dreams understated. Measure of success varies depending on the age, lifestyle and the society we live in but dreams are unique for every individual and will not waver due to age, lifestyle or society constraint. Success for a 1 year old is to stand on its own, for a 3 year old is to understand the alphabets, for a teenager is to shine among their peers, for an adult is to settle in a good job, for a married couple is to have a happy family, for a middle aged person it is to have a...

Chemistry

Back when I used to be sciences enthuse I have studied toxicity in Chemistry. Toxicity is the degree to which a chemical substance or a particular mixture of substances can damage an organism. Recently I have been reading about a different type of toxicity. This is the toxicity that prevails among friends, among family, among society, among countries and on the whole among humanity.  I remember a story my dad used to tell me. Lord Krishna asked Dharma and Duryodhana to find one virtuous man and one vice man from their kingdom. Both of them set out at dawn and returned empty handed by dusk. The Lord questioned them and Dharma replied “Hey Krishna I set out on the quest and met hundreds of my subjects I was not able to meet even one vice man, all the men I met were virtuous, so I was not able to pick a single person”, Krishna smiled and asked Duryodhana who replied “I too met hundreds of my subjects and I was not able to meet even one virtuous man, all of them were evil so I was not ...

SANDWICHED

While I lay there in bed sandwiched between my daughters, the elder stretching her arms and younger kicking her legs, I dozed off........ I was in school again watching few kids playing in the playground. I wanted to run out and play with them. Then it was our turn to have the PT class, instead of playing I wanted to go home. Then it was evening I went home but I wanted to play with my friends. Later after finishing homework I was allowed to play with my friends but then I wanted to sleep. While asleep a fairy appeared and granted me a wish that whenever I clapped my hands over my head I can move faster into future. Next day at school during Math period I clapped and I was home. I wanted to become a teenager so I clapped faster and there I was in high school but I wanted more so clapped faster and there I was married with a beautiful little daughter. I wanted more so I clapped faster and we had settled in a foreign land with another beautiful kid but I saw that I was miserable. I...
